What is an equation?

Think of an equation like a balance. Whatever you do to one side, you need to do to the other.

Example:

2x + 5 = 15

Subtract 5 from both sides:

2x = 10

Then divide both sides by 2:

x = 5

Answer: x = 5

Now try it a different way
