The Pattern That Led Me Here
Growing up, I was always searching for the deeper meaning.
I was the child who asked why long after everyone else had accepted what. I rarely took things at face value. Whether it was a conversation, a decision or the way people behaved. I couldn't help but wonder what lay beneath the surface.
At first, I thought this was a flaw.
Why couldn't I simply accept things as they were? Why did my mind insist on exploring every possibility, every perspective, every outcome? Why did I always find myself looking beyond what people showed me instead of accepting them exactly as they appeared?
For years, these questions weighed heavily on me.
I didn't understand why my mind worked the way it did. I often felt out of place, as though everyone else had received a manual for life that I somehow missed. Thinking deeply wasn't something I chose, it was simply how I experienced the world.
Then something unexpected happened.
After months of applying for jobs, I noticed a pattern. I could do many of the roles I was applying for. I had the qualifications, the willingness to learn and the determination to succeed.
But I wasn't excited.
That realization stayed with me.
So, as I often do, I started asking questions. I explored different career paths, searched for answers and wondered whether there was a way to combine my background in marketing with the things that naturally energized me: solving problems, working with numbers, identifying patterns and making sense of complexity.
That search, introduced me to Data Analytics.
Looking back, it feels less like discovering a new career and more like discovering myself.
Suddenly, the qualities I had spent years trying to understand had a purpose. My curiosity became an asset. My tendency to ask questions became a professional skill. My habit of looking beneath the surface became exactly what good analysis demands.
What I once believed were flaws turned out to be strengths.
It felt like every part of me had finally come into agreement.
That journey is what inspired Pattern & Perspective.
This publication isn't just about data. It isn't just about marketing, business or technology either.
It's about learning to look beyond the obvious.
It's about recognizing that behind every number is a person, behind every trend is a story and behind every decision is a pattern waiting to be understood.
My hope is that these essays encourage you to pause for a moment and ask one more question than you normally would. To look a little deeper. To see familiar things from a different perspective. Perhaps, in doing so, you'll understand the world and maybe even yourself, a little better.
Welcome to Pattern & Perspective.
I'm glad you're here.
Love, Sibongile Borokini
